The Odyssey is one of two most ancient Greek epic poems. Homer was the author to such a great poem the Odyssey and Iliad. He carried the name of "the great ancient Greek poet" and from what I have read, it is so. His work contains Greek heroes. Also including Troy and his great fall, the great god Odysseus. Odysseus was a great piece of literature in the Odyssey with his actions and characteristics. He was one of the great Gods and was surly shown about in the Odyssey. The Odyssey had many gods and goddesses and they were almost all related to one another. Greek mythology plays a very important role in history and English literature. Olympians were commonly known for their work during this time in history. A reason to why the myths of Olympians have been around for so long is for its followers and great value of history and people. There were many Olympians, twelve known. All of these Olympians were known to have special powers, or gifts. There was good and bad in this world. Like in every other world where you would find the same. These myths have luster for over four hundred years and because of its believers it has drown for a long time. Myths were created for many reasons but generally known for the Greeks to escape and have freedom from terror they had. It has been learned that Greek mythology was written by Homer. Homer was the poet to Iliad and the Odyssey, not much information has ever been learned from Homer and his life but that he was a Greek living in Ionia around the time of the eighth century. (B.C) Homers poetic views to Iliad deals with events of a short time towards the end of the Trojan War. The Odyssey was distinguished with the voyages and return to Ithaca by Odysseus but both imply many people and events outside their immediate scope. Other than the Gods from the Olympians there were other elder Gods, which were the Titans. The Titans had ruled the world before the Olympians had taken over. Their ruler was Coronus. The Titans were commonly known to be strong and very powerful but lost to the Olympians and were banned. They were moved to Hades deepest cave Tartarus. Hades was the God of the underworld. He was son of Coronus and Rhea. Hades later on was swallowed by his father along with his brother Poseidon and sisters. Zeus was also his brother, a younger brother who told their father to vomit them. Zeus had been the chosen one from all the siblings young or older. Homer had stated that the three brothers, Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades divided the world. Zeus received the skies, Poseidon the seas, and Hades the underworld. Hades then ruling the underworld wanted to take Zeus’ daughter as his wife. He had fallen in love with Persephone also daughter of Demeter. Demeter did not except, and wanted her back. Persephone had eaten a pomegranate seed given to her by Hades and was forced to return every four to six months. She then became ruler of the underworld with Hades. After Zeus had taken over his father’s thrown he married his older sister Hera. Hera was a very jealous woman. She was also a Goddess, the Goddess of marriage and the Queen of Heaven. These gods and goddesses had conflicts between each other, and were all somehow related. Aphrodite is a great Goddess, very well recognized in our time as well. She was the Goddess of beauty, love and sexual rapture. Her father, Zeus, married her off to the Smith God Hephaestus. He was known to be the ugliest God and was married to the most beautifulness Goddess. Thinking Hephaestus would lose his wife he would make her beautiful jewels, making her still more attractive. Both of them together had many sons but she was also greatly loved by Ares, but also caught with Apollo by Hephaestus. They were made to pay consequences. There were always affairs, marriage problems, sibling situations, and like I have said they were all somehow related. Like the Gods and Goddess I have mentions there are many others as well. All gods had their purpose of existence. Zeus was the ruler and God of the Olympians and ruled over his father. Heras was Zeus’ wife, protector of marriage. Poseidon was God of the seas, Hades was God of the underworld and marries Persephone daughter of Zeus and Demeter. Demeter was the Goddess of corn and harvest, Goddess of growing. Hestia was the Goddess of hearth, Zeus’ sister. Athena was Goddess of wisdom, justice, war, peace, and civilization. Apollo was the god of the sun, music, light and truth, he inspired me for the art, knowledge, and creativity he had as a great God. Like him they all had their own meaning and conclusion to their powers. Artemis was the Goddess of the woods, moon, and the hunt; she was Apollo’s twin sister. Dionysus was the god of revelry and the vine. Ares was the god of war; Hephaestus was the God of fire, volcanoes and the forge. Aphrodite was the Goddess of love and beauty like I have mentioned, and Hermes was the herald and messenger of the Gods guide and travelers. Like all these Gods and Goddesses they were all powerful and amazingly beautiful. Greek mythology consists of many stories that have been told and known for, stories having to do with immortals and mortals. There was always an aspect of life to each god and goddess. Greeks had great beliefs in these gods and followed those doings. Mythology was brought to show expressions, doings of good and bad of every day struggles. Greeks were people that had great courage and knowledge that is not often seen now. For many in our times now it is no sign of respect or regularity to marry your brother, sister, niece, or nephew, etc. In those times those were things that were done on a daily basis. It sounds crazy. If it wouldn’t have been for the peoples reason to believe. The creation to Gods and Goddesses would not exist. Greek mythology is very good, great myths to learn about, and stories to believe in but everyone has their own thoughts and faiths. Greek mythology is amazingly historical.

The Conditions Of El Salvador

        El Salvador is a violent country that has the highest murder rate on earth. It has one the most known gang known as the "Maras". El Salvador’s main urban hubs are San Salvador, San Miguel, and Santa Ana. Urban homes are made out of bricks and cement. Homes in the slums however, are  huts made out of aluminum, plastic, and cardboard. My dad describes El Salvador as a beautiful place but there are people like me with different opinions of the country. I have been to El Salvador once and it had by far the worst weather i have ever  experienced. you can barley breath in the weather of El Salvador because of the humidity in the country. The majority of male Salvadoran citizens are farmers that work almost every day of the year, twelve to fourteen hours a day, to grow the food that their families will eat. More than half of those living in cities are barely able to afford to survive. Fewer job opportunities and high costs of living explain why urban poverty is so widespread. It becomes a problem when far too many Salvadorans are living in the cities because the government is not able to provide the necessary services to everyone. There's a problem with El Salvador is that if it rains it will continue rain for a long time and at a really high temperature. The country has beautiful places just like any other place you visit in the world but the violence in El Salvador is tremendously high. The road conditions of Salvador aren't so great either because people don't really respect street lights or road signs. Most of the streets in El Salvador are are full of graffiti and trash. Salvador is a small country but is full of people with pride.

1500 Word Fast food Essay

          America is one of the fattest counties in the world. America wasn’t chosen randomly to be the fattest country. It was all the fast food. Nowadays people like taking the easy way out by eating fast food. Is this what it has really gone down to? In reality it’s just another short way to their deathbed. It has become really easy for people to buy fast food because of all the fast food advertising that we have now. Since there is no many people eating fast food every day that goes on there will be more people suffering from high blood pressure, effects of cholesterol, and obesity.     

          America will continue to be one of the fattest countries in the world, unless people take a stand. Whatever happened to "personal responsibility"? People do not take responsibility in what they eat. Nowadays people choose to go through a drive through instead of cooking a healthy meal at their homes. People choose fast food because it may be fast and affordable or they are just too lazy to cook.

            I believe that the parents are at fault, but not only the parents but the industries as well. The industry is only marketing the products, while the parents are the ones who allow the children to eat such high-calorie foods. Parents should be a role model for their children.  They should pay more attention to what they are buying their children eat. Instead of parents blaming fast food for their children suffering from obesity they should blame themselves for falling for all their advertisements.

            Set of short articles in “Fast Food: Who’s to blame?” Shannon Brownlee, in “Its Portion Distortion that makes America Fat” states that the fast food companies are the ones that the fast food companies are the ones that are responsible for the Americans being overweight. “If you Pitch it, They will Eat it” by David Barboza stated that “ a growing number of nutritionists call it a blitzkrieg that preserves children’s eating habits and sets them on a path of obesity.” Companies see their marketing as “harmless” but in fact the opposite; the results are within the children who are exposed to the “harmless marketing”.

            David Zincsenkojin “Don’t Blame the Eater” talks about how it’s not the fast food that’s at fault, but the eaters. “Kids taking on McDonalds this week, suing the company for making them fat.” I believe that it is in fact true about being the eaters fault because fast food companies aren’t forcing their food down there throat. It is also not the company’s fault for people not seeing how much calories their food item has when they have them up in their restaurants. I believe the only reason fast food restaurants should be getting sued is for poisoning people or selling bad and expired food.

            People suffering from obesity have increased over the last several years. It all starts during their childhood years. America will continue to be the fattest if actions aren’t taken. It all leads to all the fast food restaurants that they are exposed to nowadays.

Music & Teens

          For some people music is art, but for others is so they can express themselves. Music has been part of our history. It has been used in many cultures and traditions to express their feelings. Different people have different taste, and various types of music have many ways of leaving an impact on someone. It can be relaxing, angering, and many more. Nowadays teens have taken music to another level that changes their perspective about the way they feel and see things towards one another.

            Music sends either good or bad messages that have a big impact on how teens may act. Nowadays there is a lot of music with tons of profanity. Teens may act a certain way or say certain things when hearing certain songs. Music may influence a teen in a good way but most teens never tend to pick up the good things about music. Music gives a teen a certain style and attitude.

          One of the most influencing behaviors was the Columbine High School shooting, in which twelve students as well as a teacher were fatally injured, as well as 24 others who were injured. Learning the prior to their suicides, the two shooters, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, were heavy metal and Goth music fans, it seemed to be that the media immediately instilled a moral panic about that particular genre of music. Music had taken a big part of the two kids action. It all depends on the person; as well there are people who begin to use drugs when listening to a certain type of music. There are also people like me that music has no effect on them.

          Music is there and will always be there. Unfortunately we don't have a say on what other people may do when listening to a certain type of music. Music artist have to realize what they are doing to the society with their music and make a change. We as the people also have to be smart and not let the music have a bad influence on us. What is done is already done and we just have improve on the music that we listen to today.

Personification/A Toilet

          A bowl fitted with a hinged seat connected to a waste pipe and a flushing apparatus. I am used everyday by people all around the world. Everyday that passes I receive loads of crap from people everywhere. If it weren’t for me the world would be a disgusting place. Receiving human waste is the only purpose I was created for.

            My porcelain parts can last for many decades, easily over 50 years. My seat and the internal working parts have a much shorter lifespan and will usually work about ten to fifteen years. I last a really long time even though I am Being used a large amount of times during a single day. I will always be in everyone’s past, present, and future.

            I can be extremely filthy and may also be clean. In public places I am not always the cleanest object but it may also depend on the place that I am located in. some people don't see the importance of my existence. I instantly flush away all unnecessary things. If I wasn’t created there would be unnecessary waste everywhere.

            Having said so I am an object that twists waste clockwise, counterclockwise and sends it either to the sewers or a septic tank. Eventually, the water in the sewer or septic tank is sent to a “water treatment plant,” where it is cleaned and treated in a special way. In order for all that to happen, I the toilet has to begin this cycle.

Stand up Speak out

            I feel like homosexuals all over the world are being pushed away and

discriminated. People shouldn’t care of other people’s likings. Nowadays-gay people

are afraid of coming out of the closet because of people discriminating homosexual

people. Homosexuals should not have to feel different because they are the same as someone who is straight.

            Homosexuals should not be discriminated due to the fact that they are human beings and not some sort of extraterrestrial. Nowadays there are a lot of people making fun of homosexuals by calling them “fags” or “faggots”. If you are Mexican and there is someone calling you a wet back that person would get offended, which is the same thing as name calling for gays. If you don’t want to get made fun of than don’t go around making fun of gay people.

            I think people should really begin to mind their own business and not get into other peoples lives and going against there believes. If people decide they want to be gay than is there decision and we don’t have right to go against them because that is what they want. Straight people are nothing greater than gay people everyone is equal. A gay person should never have to feel less of a person. Gay people are just trying to love and trying to be loved back.

            Gay people should have the same rights as any other person and should never get excluded from marriage. Gay marriage doesn't affect anybody in anyway so I don't see why it’s a bad thing. There is nothing wrong with being gay. Having said that people should just let people live their lives how they want to live it.

Academic Autobiography

          

          My father the one who has always been there to support me in any way. He has always been there to keep me on task and up to date with all my academic assignments. In elementary I attended a school name L.A Elementary that is located in 1203 South Serrano Avenue, Los Angeles CA. I did not attend Pre Kinder I began going to L.A Elementary as a kindergartner. I went to the same Elementary school for all six years. When I graduated from Elementary I attended a school name Pio Pico that is located Arlington Avenue / West 15th Street, Los Angeles, CA. I went there for my three years of middle School. After I graduated from there I began my freshman year in West Adams Preparatory High School a school located in 1500 West Washington Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA. I am now a senior at West Adams class of 2012.

          I currently do not have a favorite subject but if I had to choose one it would probably be Math. I am not that great in math but I still find it a little more entertaining than any other subject. I have only taken two math classes that are Algebra 1, geometry and I am currently taking Algebra 2. I find it my best subject because in the math classes that I have taken I have gotten either an A or a B and I at this point I find Algebra 2 and easy A.

          One of the most influential teacher's I have had would probably be my Ninth grade History teacher. I find him an influential teacher because I remember him having us do assignments that were similar to some real life experiences that I have had or may have. At the time I didn't realize that it was going to help me with real life experiences but it did.

          In the future I see myself attending college. At this moment I do not have an idea of which college I want to attend but my plans after high school for sure is to attend college. If I were to describe myself as student I would have to say that I am an average student. School isn't really my favorite but I know that without education I wont go far therefore that is the reason I have plans to attend college.

          My first language is Spanish because that is the language my parents spoke me ever since I was a child. I learned to speak English little by little once I was getting older it wasn't really that much after I learned to speak Spanish because while I was learning to speak Spanish at the same time I was learning to speak English as well. When I was in Junior High I was an average student so my grades for English weren't that high but they weren't that low as well. My grades for my English classes would stay between a C and a B.

          The specific goals I have for this class is to understand the material and get a good grade in the class. The main thing I am aiming for is to get an A and if I don't I will do my best to get no lower than a B. As a teacher I expect you to just teach me the material that is necessary to keep me going for my future classes.
